Ask anyone who grew up in Sonarpur or Rajpur and they will tell you the same thing. This belt has changed faster than almost any other part of the southern fringe. New flats keep coming up along the Southern Bypass. Families who moved out of central Kolkata twenty years ago now have grown children getting married. The Sonarpur railway station area handles more crowd every year.
But the venue search has not caught up.
Type "banquet hall in Sonarpur" into Google and you mostly get listing sites. They show you photos from somewhere else. They ask for your phone number before showing a single rate. Then someone calls you from a call centre and reads out a script. Nobody tells you which hall actually holds four hundred guests, what it costs, or how long the booking runs.
This guide fixes that. Below you will find two Pradhan Banquet Group halls that serve the Sonarpur and Rajpur belt directly, with published rates, timing slots and the full booking terms.
Here is something we notice every season. Weddings in Sonarpur and Rajpur run bigger than weddings inside the city.
The reasons make sense once you think about it. Families here still live close to each other. Joint family networks stay intact. The para invitation list is real, not symbolic. Add the office colleagues, the school friends and the relatives coming down from the district, and a Sonarpur wedding guest list crosses four hundred without anybody trying.
Inside Kolkata, a family with the same budget squeezes into a smaller hall and manages. Out here, you do not have to. Land is more available, halls are bigger, and the rates stay reasonable compared to what a Gariahat or Ballygunge venue charges for half the space.
So when you search for a sonarpur marriage hall, do not start with the cheapest option. Start with the guest count. Get that number right and the rest of the decision follows.
Address: Elachi, Ramchandrapur, Narendrapur, Rajpur Sonarpur, Kolkata, West Bengal 700103. On the Southern Bypass, just after the Kamalgazi flyover.
ERMS stands for Elachi Ramchandrapur Milan Sangha. This one sits inside the Rajpur Sonarpur municipality area itself, which makes it the closest large venue for most families in this belt.
The campus runs two halls, ERMS Gate 1 and ERMS Gate 2.
ERMS Gate 2 is the largest hall in the entire Pradhan Banquet Group. If your guest list runs into the high hundreds, this is the hall we point you towards first. Nothing else in the group holds that scale comfortably.
Why Sonarpur and Rajpur families choose ERMS:
If you want more detail on this specific venue, our earlier guide on the AC banquet hall on Southern Bypass at Elachi covers the campus layout.
Address: Kamalgazi Municipality Market Building, 4th Floor, Kamalgazi More, Kolkata 700103. Behind Sakti Sangha Club, above Narendrapur Thana.
Nikunja Banquet sits right at Kamalgazi More, which is the junction almost every Sonarpur and Rajpur family passes through anyway. Everybody knows where Kamalgazi is. Nobody gets lost.
Nikunja is the budget friendly option of the two. It suits mid size weddings, receptions and every kind of small family function.
Why families choose Nikunja:
Approximate travel: Both halls sit within a short drive of the Sonarpur and Rajpur main areas, with most guests reaching in about 15 to 25 minutes depending on which para they start from and how the Bypass traffic runs.
Our detailed Kamalgazi and Narendrapur venue guide compares these two halls side by side if you want a closer look.
Decoration comes included in every package below. GST applies on top.
| Hall | 12 Hours | 22 Hours |
|---|---|---|
| Nikunja, Kamalgazi More | Rs 1,00,000 | Rs 1,20,000 |
| ERMS Gate 1, Elachi | Rs 1,45,000 to Rs 1,50,000 | Rs 1,75,000 |
| ERMS Gate 2, Elachi | Rs 1,80,000 | Rs 2,35,000 |
Read that bottom row properly. ERMS Gate 2 at Rs 2,35,000 for a full 22 hour wedding day is the biggest setup we offer, and the price includes decoration. For a five hundred guest Bengali wedding, run the maths against what a comparable city venue would charge you before you decide it sounds high.
Why the 22 hour slot suits weddings here. A Bengali wedding does not fit into twelve hours. The morning starts with the gaye holud arrangements. The evening brings the bor boron and the shubho drishti. The biye itself runs late. Then comes the basar ghar through the night, and the bidaay only happens the next morning. Families who book 12 hours for a full wedding almost always end up paying the extension charge.
Take the 12 hour slot when you are hosting only the reception or only the bou bhat as a separate evening event. Our reception hall planning guide explains how the bhat kapor afternoon and the evening reception fit together, and the wedding reception venue guide covers stage and buffet flow.
You can also check the marriage package and reception package pages for what each one bundles in.
Not every booking is a wedding. Annaprashan, upanayan, birthday, engagement, anniversary and get together functions all fall under our small event category.
| Hall | 6 Hours | 12 Hours | 22 Hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nikunja, Kamalgazi More | Rs 50,000 | Rs 70,000 | Rs 1,00,000 |
| ERMS, Elachi | Rs 70,000 | Rs 85,000 | Rs 1,00,000 |
GST applies on top. Decoration stays included.
Nikunja at Rs 50,000 for 6 hours works well for a morning mukhe bhaat or a thread ceremony. The muhurat finishes in the morning, lunch runs till early afternoon, and guests leave by mid afternoon. Six hours covers that day properly.
Notice the 22 hour column. Both halls cost the same at Rs 1,00,000 for a full day small event. If you need the longer slot anyway, ERMS gives you more space for the same money.
For rice ceremony planning, our annaprashan venue guide covers menu and timing advice, and the annaprashan package page lists the food options. Families planning reunions can look at the get together package or our Sonarpur reunion venue guide.
We publish these openly because surprise charges ruin the experience for everybody.
Included in every package:
Additional charges:
| Item | Charge |
|---|---|
| Booking advance | 50% of the package amount plus GST |
| Refundable security deposit | Rs 20,000 |
| Time extension beyond your slot | Rs 5,000 per hour |
| AC beyond the first 6 hours | Rs 3,000 per hour |
| Postponement fee | Rs 10,000 |
| Decoration customisation | Charged extra as per the change |
Rules worth knowing before you commit:
Watch the AC clock on a 22 hour wedding. Air conditioning comes free for six hours, then costs Rs 3,000 per hour. On a long summer wedding, that adds up. Plan for it in your budget from day one rather than treating it as a shock at settlement. Our banquet hall price breakdown goes through every line item that lands on a final bill.
Alongside the hall, you can add catering, photography, bridal makeover and wedding planning support from the same group, which cuts down the number of people you have to chase on the day.
Count your guests honestly, then add fifteen percent. Every family in this belt underestimates. The para list grows. Relatives from the district confirm late. Children come along. Book the hall for the number you will actually have, not the number on your first draft.
Pick your date from the panjika first. Auspicious dates fill up months in advance, and the good ones go first. Check every shubho bibaho tarikh for the 2026-27 season before you call, or look at the marriage panjika page on our site.
Book three to four months ahead for Agrahayan, Magh and Falgun. Those months carry most of the wedding season. Families who call early get their first choice of hall and date. Families who call late take what is left.
Think about how your guests will arrive. Sonarpur railway station brings in relatives from the district side. Southern Bypass brings in cars from the city. Kamalgazi More is the junction almost everybody crosses. Both halls sit close to these routes, so mention the nearest landmark clearly on your invitation card.
Send a WhatsApp map pin with the card. For ERMS, mention the Southern Bypass and the Kamalgazi flyover. For Nikunja, mention Kamalgazi More and Narendrapur Thana. It saves a dozen phone calls on the morning of the function.
Visit before you pay the advance. Photos on any website, including ours, only tell you so much. Walk the hall. Look at the stage position, the buffet space, the washrooms and the parking. Fifteen minutes on site answers more questions than an hour on the phone.
Pick ERMS, Elachi if:

Both halls include decoration. Both follow the same booking terms. The real difference is scale.

Which is the biggest banquet hall in Sonarpur and Rajpur?
ERMS Gate 2 at Elachi is the largest hall in the Pradhan Banquet Group. It suits the big guest lists that are common in this belt, with rates at Rs 1,80,000 for 12 hours and Rs 2,35,000 for 22 hours, decoration included and GST extra.
What is the cheapest hall rate in this area?
Nikunja at Kamalgazi More starts at Rs 50,000 for a 6 hour small event slot with decoration included. For weddings, Nikunja costs Rs 1,00,000 for 12 hours and Rs 1,20,000 for 22 hours.
Should I book 12 hours or 22 hours for a wedding?
Take 22 hours for a full Bengali wedding. The programme runs from the morning gaye holud arrangements through the evening rituals, the basar ghar overnight and the bidaay the next morning. Twelve hours suits a standalone reception or bou bhat evening instead.
Is decoration included in the price?
Yes. Every hall package includes decoration as per our standard design for that hall. A customised theme or extra floral work carries an additional charge.
How much advance do I pay to confirm a booking?
You pay 50 percent of the package amount plus GST as advance, along with a refundable security deposit of Rs 20,000 that comes back to you after the event.
What if my wedding runs past the booked slot?
An extension charge of Rs 5,000 per hour applies. Air conditioning comes free for the first 6 hours and costs Rs 3,000 per hour after that.
Can I hire my own decorator, sound or lighting team?
No. Decor, lighting and sound run through our in house vendors only. Catering, photography and makeover services are also available from the same group.
Can I change my date after booking?
Yes. A postponement fee of Rs 10,000 applies and the paid amount is not refunded, but you can reschedule to a new date within one year of the original booking date.
How far is ERMS from Sonarpur station?
ERMS sits at Elachi Ramchandrapur on the Southern Bypass, just after the Kamalgazi flyover, inside the Rajpur Sonarpur area. Most guests reach it within a short drive from the Sonarpur and Rajpur main areas.
How early should I book for the wedding season?
Book three to four months ahead for Agrahayan, Magh and Falgun. These months carry most of the season and the popular dates go first.
