Banquet Halls Near Gariahat and Jodhpur Park: Premium Venue Guide 2026-27

Families in Gariahat and Jodhpur Park do not usually have a budget problem. They have a standards problem.

The guest list includes people who have attended weddings at good venues across the city. The photographs will circulate. The relatives will comment. So the hall needs to look right, feel comfortable and run smoothly, and nobody wants to spend three months finding out which venue actually delivers that.

The trouble is that almost nothing useful gets published. Listing sites show you the same recycled photographs. Nobody prints a rate. Nobody tells you how long you get the hall. And nobody mentions the practical things that matter on the day, like whether there is a working lift for your elderly relatives, or whether three hundred cars can park without blocking the road.

This guide fixes that for the Gariahat and Jodhpur Park belt. Two Pradhan Banquet Group halls serve this area well. Below you will find their addresses, the complete 2026-27 rate card, every booking charge, honest travel routes and a practical way to choose between them.

What Families in This Belt Actually Look For

We have run functions for Gariahat and Jodhpur Park families for years, and the priorities stay remarkably consistent.

Guest comfort comes before size. A hall that seats four hundred badly loses to a hall that seats two hundred and fifty well. Seating spacing, air conditioning that actually cools, and washrooms that stay clean through the evening matter more than raw floor area.

Elderly relatives drive the decision more than people admit. Almost every family in this belt has a mashima or a dadu who cannot manage stairs. A working lift is not a luxury here, it is the reason a hall gets shortlisted or dropped.

Privacy matters. Nobody wants a second function running in the next hall with a different sound system. Our halls run one booking at a time, which sounds obvious until you compare it against multi hall venues.

The evening must not feel rushed. Bengali functions run on their own time. A venue that pushes you out at a fixed hour creates stress at exactly the wrong moment.

And the pricing must be legible. Not cheap, legible. This belt will pay for quality. What it will not tolerate is a bill that arrives with charges nobody mentioned.

Why Large Halls Sit Outside These Paras

Here is the honest structural point, and it explains most of your search results.

Gariahat and Jodhpur Park are old, dense and expensive. The land that could hold a four hundred guest hall with a kitchen, a stage and parking got built over decades ago. What remains inside these paras are small function rooms, club spaces and hotel banquet rooms, most of which suit a sixty to hundred guest gathering rather than a full Bengali wedding.

So families here book slightly east, towards Santoshpur, Survey Park and the Vidyasagar Colony side. The distance stays manageable, the halls are properly sized, and parking exists.

This is not a downgrade. It is simply where the space is. Families from Ekdalia, Hindusthan Park, Dover Lane, Golpark and the Jodhpur Park blocks do this every season without anybody thinking twice.

Upalakshya Banquet, Survey Park

Address: Udita Community Hall, 1050/1, Survey Park, Santoshpur, Kolkata 700075. Near Ajoynagar on the EM Bypass. Bus stop: Ajoynagar.

Upalakshya Banquet sits in Survey Park, Santoshpur, close to the Ajoynagar stop on the EM Bypass. For Jodhpur Park families especially, this usually works out as the shorter and simpler run.

Why this belt books it:

  • Fully air conditioned, with a comfortable seating layout rather than a packed one
  • Lift access, which matters for the elderly guests every family in this belt brings
  • One booking at a time, so your function runs privately
  • Survey Park roads handle event day traffic far better than the Gariahat bylanes
  • Decoration included in the hall package, so no separate decorator negotiation

Our Santoshpur and Survey Park venue guide covers this hall in more detail, and the piece on how Upalakshya improves the wedding experience explains the planning support that comes with it.

VCCCH Banquet, Vidyasagar Colony

Address: 2/38, Vidya Sagar Main Road, Vidyasagar Colony, Kolkata 700047.

VCCCH stands for Vidyasagar Central Club Community Hall. It runs two halls on one campus, Gate 1 and Gate 2, with Gate 2 being the larger of the two.

This is the option for families who want more scale, whether that means a bigger guest list, a grander stage setup or simply more room between tables.

Why this belt books it:

  • Two hall sizes on one campus, so you match the hall to your actual guest count
  • Gate 2 suits the larger wedding and reception guest lists
  • Gate 1 costs less than Upalakshya for a wedding, which surprises most families
  • Straight run from the Gariahat side along the main road
  • Same inclusions, with decoration bundled into the package

Our earlier article on the exclusive amenities at VCCCH covers the facilities, and families planning a thread ceremony can read our upanayan at VCCCH guide.

Complete Rate Card 2026-27

Decoration is included in every package below. GST applies on top.

Wedding and Reception

Hall 12 Hours 22 Hours
VCCCH Gate 1 Rs 1,45,000 to Rs 1,50,000 Rs 1,75,000
Upalakshya, Survey Park Rs 1,75,000 Rs 2,00,000
VCCCH Gate 2 Rs 1,75,000 Rs 2,00,000

Notice the top row. VCCCH Gate 1 comes in below the other two for a wedding booking. Families who assume the bigger campus automatically costs more often get this wrong.

Upalakshya and VCCCH Gate 2 sit at identical rates, so between those two the choice comes down to location and hall size, not price.

Small Events

Annaprashan, upanayan, birthday, engagement, anniversary and get together functions.

Hall 6 Hours 12 Hours 22 Hours
Upalakshya, Survey Park Rs 70,000 Rs 85,000 Rs 1,00,000
VCCCH (both gates) Rs 70,000 Rs 85,000 Rs 1,00,000

Small event rates match across both venues, which again leaves you free to choose on convenience.

Picking your slot:

The 6 hour slot covers a standard morning function. Setup by 8:30 am, ceremony through the muhurat window, lunch around noon, guests out by mid afternoon. Most rice ceremonies and thread ceremonies fit this exactly.

The 12 hour slot suits a standalone reception or bou bhat evening, or a function that runs from morning into the evening.

The 22 hour slot is what a full Bengali wedding actually needs. The morning brings the gaye holud arrangements. The evening brings the bor boron and shubho drishti. The biye runs late, the basar ghar continues overnight, and the bidaay happens the next morning. Booking twelve hours for a complete wedding almost always ends in extension charges, which costs more than booking correctly.

For the wider picture on what makes up any venue bill in this city, read our banquet hall price guide with real costs.

What the Package Includes and What Costs Extra

This is where most venue comparisons fall apart, because different venues bundle different things. Here is ours in full.

Included in every package:

  • The hall for your full booked slot
  • Decoration, as per our standard design for that hall
  • Air conditioning for the first 6 hours

Additional charges:

Item Charge
Booking advance 50% of the package amount plus GST
Refundable security deposit Rs 20,000
Time extension beyond your slot Rs 5,000 per hour
AC beyond the first 6 hours Rs 3,000 per hour
Postponement fee Rs 10,000
Decoration customisation Charged extra as per the change

Rules worth reading properly:

  • The Rs 20,000 security deposit returns to you after the event, subject to the usual condition checks
  • Our decoration design stays fixed for each hall. Our decorator team will build a different theme, change the colour scheme or add floral work, but customisation carries an extra cost
  • Decor, lighting and sound run through our in house vendors only. Outside vendors for these three services are not permitted
  • If you postpone, the Rs 10,000 fee applies and the paid amount is not refunded. You can reschedule within one year of the original date

Budget for the AC properly. Six hours come free, then Rs 3,000 per hour applies. On a 22 hour wedding in Baisakh or Jyaishtha, that is a real line item, not a rounding error. Plan for it at the start.

Alongside the hall, you can add catering, photography, bridal makeover, floral work and wedding planning support from the same group. Our guide to all inclusive wedding packages explains how the pieces fit together.

Travel, Routes and the Parking Question

Coming from Gariahat

Head east from the Gariahat crossing towards the Kasba and Ruby side, then down towards Survey Park or Vidyasagar Colony depending on your hall. Outside peak hours the run takes roughly twenty to thirty minutes. Between 6 pm and 9 pm on a weekday, add to that generously, because Rashbehari Avenue and the Gariahat crossing both slow down badly.

Ballygunge railway station serves the Gariahat area for relatives arriving from the district side.

Coming from Jodhpur Park

Jodhpur Park sits closer, and the run towards Santoshpur usually takes less time than from Gariahat itself. Dhakuria railway station is the nearest rail point for outstation guests. Our Dhakuria railway station venue guide covers that angle in more detail.

The parking reality nobody writes about

Inside Gariahat and Jodhpur Park, dedicated parking barely exists. Guests park along the road, a lane gets blocked, and somebody from the neighbourhood comes out to object. On a wedding evening with three hundred guests, this turns into a genuine problem, and it is the most common complaint we hear from families who booked inside the city.

Both Upalakshya and VCCCH sit on wider roads with room around them, so cars park properly and two wheelers find space. For a belt where most guests arrive by car, this single factor changes the evening more than any decoration upgrade.

Practical tip: Send a WhatsApp map pin with your invitation card. For Upalakshya, mention the Ajoynagar bus stop and Survey Park. For VCCCH, mention Vidya Sagar Main Road and Vidyasagar Colony. Two extra lines on the card save a dozen phone calls on the morning of the function.

Upalakshya or VCCCH: How to Choose

Pick Upalakshya, Survey Park if:

  • You are coming from the Jodhpur Park or Dhakuria side
  • Your guest list sits in the mid range and you want a comfortable, unhurried layout
  • Many guests will travel by bus, since the Ajoynagar stop sits right there
  • You want the EM Bypass route for guests arriving by car

Pick VCCCH Gate 1 if:

  • You want the lowest wedding rate of the three options
  • Your guest list is moderate rather than very large
  • You are coming from the Gariahat side along the main road

Pick VCCCH Gate 2 if:

  • Your guest list runs large and you want maximum floor space
  • You want a grander stage and more room between tables
  • You are hosting a full wedding with a long overnight programme

All three include decoration and follow identical booking terms. The differences are location, hall size and, for Gate 1, a lower wedding rate.

Planning Advice for Gariahat and Jodhpur Park Functions

Fix the panjika date before you check availability. Weddings, annaprashan and upanayan all follow muhurat timings. Your purohit gives you the window. Lock that first, then call. Check every shubho bibaho tarikh for 2026-27, or see the marriage panjika, annaprashan panjika and upanayan panjika pages.

Book three to four months ahead. Agrahayan, Magh, Falgun and Baisakh carry most of the season, and the good dates go first.

Add fifteen percent to your guest count. Families in this belt invite widely. Colleagues get added, friends of friends turn up, relatives who said maybe arrive with three people. Book for the number you will actually have.

Write your programme hour by hour before choosing a slot. Setup, ceremony, meal service, photographs, departure. Then match it to 6, 12 or 22 hours. Guessing costs Rs 5,000 an hour in extension charges.

Ask every venue you shortlist the same five questions. How long is the slot. Is decoration included. What is the AC policy. Can I bring outside vendors. What happens if I postpone. Compare the five answers side by side and most of the confusion disappears.

Visit before paying the advance. Photographs on any website, ours included, only show so much. Walk the hall. Check the stage position, the buffet flow, the washrooms, the lift and the parking. Fifteen minutes on site tells you more than an hour on the phone.

Think about your elderly guests specifically. Where will they sit. How far from the entrance. Is the lift working and large enough. In this belt, that question decides more bookings than the decoration photographs do.

Check Your Date

Call with four things ready. Your function type, your date, your expected guest count and your preferred timing slot. We will tell you straight away which hall is free and what your total comes to.

You can also check hall availability online or book through our booking page if your date is already fixed.

Get in touch and we will arrange a hall visit at a time that suits you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which banquet hall is nearest to Gariahat?

VCCCH at Vidyasagar Colony and Upalakshya at Survey Park both serve the Gariahat belt. The run takes roughly twenty to thirty minutes outside peak hours, and longer during the evening rush on Rashbehari Avenue.

Which hall suits Jodhpur Park families best?

Upalakshya at Survey Park usually works out shorter and simpler from Jodhpur Park, with the Ajoynagar bus stop right beside it. VCCCH is also within a comfortable drive.

What does a wedding hall near Gariahat cost in 2026-27?

VCCCH Gate 1 costs Rs 1,45,000 to Rs 1,50,000 for 12 hours and Rs 1,75,000 for 22 hours. Upalakshya and VCCCH Gate 2 both cost Rs 1,75,000 for 12 hours and Rs 2,00,000 for 22 hours. Decoration is included and GST applies extra.

Which is the cheapest wedding option of the three?

VCCCH Gate 1 carries the lowest wedding rate of the three halls covered here, starting at Rs 1,45,000 for a 12 hour slot.

Why are there so few large banquet halls inside Gariahat and Jodhpur Park?

Both areas are old, dense and expensive, so very little land remains for a large hall with a kitchen, stage and parking. Families book slightly east towards Santoshpur and Vidyasagar Colony, where the space exists.

Is decoration included in the price?

Yes. Every package includes decoration as per our standard design for that hall. A customised theme, changed colour scheme or extra floral work carries an additional charge.

How much advance do I pay to confirm?

You pay 50 percent of the package amount plus GST as advance, along with a refundable security deposit of Rs 20,000 that comes back after the event.

Should I book 12 hours or 22 hours for a wedding?

Take 22 hours for a full Bengali wedding, because the programme runs from the morning arrangements through the overnight basar ghar to the next morning bidaay. Twelve hours suits a standalone reception or bou bhat evening.

What happens if the function runs past the slot?

An extension charge of Rs 5,000 per hour applies. Air conditioning comes free for the first 6 hours and costs Rs 3,000 per hour after that.

Can I bring my own decorator, lighting or sound team?

No. Decor, lighting and sound run through our in house vendors only. Catering, photography, makeover and floral services are also available from the same group.

Is parking available?

Yes. Both halls sit on wider roads with space around them, so cars and two wheelers park properly. This matters in a belt where most guests arrive by car, and it is a common reason families book outside Gariahat and Jodhpur Park rather than inside.

How early should I book?

Book three to four months ahead, especially for Agrahayan, Magh, Falgun and Baisakh. Popular muhurat dates for annaprashan and upanayan fill up equally fast.
