The moment a Bengali family fixes a biye, one book comes off the shelf. The panjika. Somebody's kaka reads out the tithis, somebody's mashi objects to three of them, and eventually a date is agreed on in a way that feels part astrology, part negotiation.
What nobody tells you at that stage is this: the date you pick decides how fast you have to move. And this season, the maths is unusually tight.
Here is the full list of Bengali marriage dates for 2026-27, month by month, with the day of the week beside each one. And beside each stretch, an honest note on how early you need to book your hall, based on what we see every season across our nine halls in South Kolkata.
Bengali wedding dates are not the same as general Hindu vivah muhurats. The Bengali panjika follows its own calculation, which is why a date listed on a North Indian wedding site may not appear in your family's panjika at all.
There are also different panjika traditions in Bengal, and their lists do not always match perfectly. The dates below follow Benimadhab Sil's Full Panjika for 1433. If your family follows Gupta Press, a tithi or two may differ.
So use this as a planning list, not a final word. Always confirm your date with your family purohit before paying any advance.
Before the tables, why everyone ends up competing for the same few weeks.
Only three months carry the bulk of Bengali weddings: Ogrohayon, Magh and Falgun. Poush and Chaitra are traditionally avoided entirely. Bhadro and Ashwin fall in the puja period. That leaves a narrow window, and every family in Kolkata is looking at the same one.
The Boishakh, Asharh and Srabon dates for 1433 have already passed this year, and the next summer season belongs to the 1434 panjika, which will be published closer to Poila Boishakh. So the season in front of you right now runs from Kartik 2026 to Falgun 2027.
The panjika lists these as additional (অতিরিক্ত) wedding dates rather than main ones, and several fall close to Lakshmi Puja and Diwali. Worth discussing with your purohit before fixing.
| English Date | Day | Bengali Date |
|---|---|---|
| 24 October 2026 | Saturday | 6 Kartik 1433 |
| 25 October 2026 | Sunday | 7 Kartik 1433 |
| 26 October 2026 | Monday | 8 Kartik 1433 |
| 29 October 2026 | Thursday | 11 Kartik 1433 |
| 7 November 2026 | Saturday | 20 Kartik 1433 |
| 14 November 2026 | Saturday | 27 Kartik 1433 |
Booking urgency: act immediately. These dates are only weeks away. If you are considering any of them, halls need to be checked today, not after the next family meeting.
The big one. Ogrohayon is the most popular wedding month in the Bengali calendar, and this year it delivers nine dates.
| English Date | Day | Bengali Date |
|---|---|---|
| 21 November 2026 | Saturday | 4 Ogrohayon 1433 |
| 24 November 2026 | Tuesday | 7 Ogrohayon 1433 |
| 25 November 2026 | Wednesday | 8 Ogrohayon 1433 |
| 26 November 2026 | Thursday | 9 Ogrohayon 1433 |
| 5 December 2026 | Saturday | 18 Ogrohayon 1433 |
| 9 December 2026 | Wednesday | 22 Ogrohayon 1433 |
| 11 December 2026 | Friday | 24 Ogrohayon 1433 |
| 12 December 2026 | Saturday | 25 Ogrohayon 1433 |
| 13 December 2026 | Sunday | 26 Ogrohayon 1433 |
Booking urgency: highest of the entire season. Look at that list again. Four of the nine are weekend dates, 21 November, 5 December, 12 December and 13 December. Those four will be the most fought-over days of the year in South Kolkata. If you want one, you should be calling halls right now, not in October.
The weekday dates, particularly 24, 25 and 26 November, are noticeably easier and just as auspicious.
No wedding dates. Poush is traditionally avoided.
That makes it an excellent month for everything else. If you need a hall for a reception, annaprashan, birthday or anniversary at short notice, Poush is the easiest booking window of the winter. Our annaprashan and rice ceremony venue guide covers what to look for.
The second peak, and this year it has a genuine quirk worth knowing.
| English Date | Day | Bengali Date |
|---|---|---|
| 18 January 2027 | Monday | 3 Magh 1433 |
| 26 January 2027 | Tuesday | 11 Magh 1433 |
| 28 January 2027 | Thursday | 13 Magh 1433 |
| 29 January 2027 | Friday | 14 Magh 1433 |
| 11 February 2027 | Thursday | 27 Magh 1433 |
| 12 February 2027 | Friday | 28 Magh 1433 |
Booking urgency: very high, for an unusual reason. Count the weekends in that table. There are none. Magh 1433 has no Saturday or Sunday wedding dates at all.
Which makes 26 January 2027 the single most contested date of the month, because it is a Tuesday and Republic Day, a public holiday. Out-of-town guests can travel, offices are shut, and every family will spot the same thing. If that is your date, treat it like a weekend and book far earlier than you think you need to.
The Thursday and Friday pairs, 28 and 29 January, and 11 and 12 February, are the sensible alternatives. A Friday evening reception works well when guests have Saturday to recover.
The season's last stretch, and a lovely one. Still cool, flowers everywhere, good light for photographs before the heat arrives.
| English Date | Day | Bengali Date |
|---|---|---|
| 16 February 2027 | Tuesday | 3 Falgun 1433 |
| 22 February 2027 | Monday | 9 Falgun 1433 |
| 24 February 2027 | Wednesday | 11 Falgun 1433 |
| 1 March 2027 | Monday | 16 Falgun 1433 |
| 9 March 2027 | Tuesday | 24 Falgun 1433 |
| 14 March 2027 | Sunday | 29 Falgun 1433 |
Booking urgency: high for one date, moderate for the rest. Only 14 March falls on a weekend, and it will move fast. The five weekday dates are the best availability of the entire peak season. Families who are flexible on the day of the week should look here first.
No wedding dates. Traditionally avoided.
Add up every wedding date from Kartik through Falgun and you get 27 dates across the whole season.
Now count only the Saturdays and Sundays. There are seven, and three of those are in Kartik, which is weeks away.
For the main winter season, Ogrohayon through Falgun, there are exactly five weekend dates: 21 November, 5 December, 12 December, 13 December and 14 March.
Five. Across four months, for every Bengali family in Kolkata.
This is not a sales line, it is arithmetic. If your family is set on a Saturday or Sunday wedding, you are competing for one of five days, and you need to be checking hall availability immediately. If you can be flexible about a Tuesday or a Thursday, the season opens up completely and you will have a far calmer planning experience.
Every season we watch the same thing happen. Families spend six weeks discussing tithis with relatives, then everybody calls the halls in the same fortnight, and the good dates vanish in days.
The families who get the hall they wanted did one thing differently. They shortlisted two or three acceptable tithis instead of fixing rigidly on one, checked hall availability across all of them, then finalised the date around what was actually free.
Do that and you almost always get both a good tithi and a good hall.
Pradhan Banquet Group runs 9 AC halls in 7 South Kolkata locations. In practice this means that even on 12 December, if one hall is taken, another nearby often is not. Pick by where your guests are travelling from.
Wedding packages start at ₹1,00,000 for 12 hours with decoration included, or take catering from ₹1,200 per plate and the AC hall and decoration come complimentary. Full details in our guide to all inclusive wedding packages in South Kolkata.
Once the tithi and the hall are fixed, everything else books up just as fast. The advantage of booking with us is that it all comes from the group's own teams: Catering Destination for food, Pradhan Florist for flowers and decoration, The Bird's Eye for photography and videography, and Nanir Rupkatha for the bridal makeover.
In peak Ogrohayon, when every good decorator and photographer in South Kolkata is already committed, one coordinated team matters more than families expect.
The panjika gives you the tithi. The hall gives you the day itself.
With only five weekend dates in the entire winter season, the families who move first will get them. Shortlist two or three tithis, check availability across our halls, and finalise from there.
See all nine venues at Pradhan Banquet Group, then call with your dates in hand.
Call +91 80171 29924 with your shortlisted tithis. The team will tell you straight away which halls are free on each date, and give you an exact all-in price.
From Kartik 1433 through Falgun 1433, the panjika lists 27 dates in total. Nine of these fall in Ogrohayon (November and December 2026), six in Magh (January and February 2027) and six in Falgun (February and March 2027), with six additional dates in Kartik.
The four Ogrohayon weekend dates, 21 November, 5 December, 12 December and 13 December 2026, will be the most contested. In Magh, 26 January 2027 is the one to watch, since it falls on Republic Day and Magh has no weekend wedding dates at all this year.
For Ogrohayon and Magh weekend or holiday dates, 6 to 8 months ahead. For Falgun weekdays, 3 to 4 months is usually workable. Weekday dates in any month are considerably easier than weekends. Call +91 80171 29924 to check specific dates.
Because Bengal follows more than one panjika tradition, and their calculations differ on some tithis. The dates on this page follow Benimadhab Sil's Full Panjika 1433. Always confirm the final date with your family purohit before booking.
No. Both months are traditionally avoided for weddings in the Bengali calendar. They are, however, very good months for receptions, annaprashan, birthdays and anniversaries, and halls are far easier to book during these periods.
